Janet Trautwein Executive Vice President and CEO NAHU

Janet Trautwein is the chief executive officer of NAHU in Washington, DC. NAHU represents more than 100,000 employee benefits professionals involved in the design, sale, implementation and management of health plans all over the United States. Her responsibilities include oversight of all NAHU activities and primary representation of the association to the public. A frequent speaker on health policy issues, Janet has been asked to testify before Congress numerous times, and has been published in major newspapers and has appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs around the world.

Don Bolia, Partner, Peachtree Government Relations

Don Bolia provides industry leaders with strategic advice on how legislative trends will impact their businesses and assists them in shaping policy debates at the state, federal, and local levels in Georgia. He manages clients’ relationships before the Georgia General Assembly, as well as numerous city and county governments and agencies. His background and experience especially give clients an edge on conducting business with local governments. Because of his key relationships at the municipal level, his clients are able to clearly communicate their message to the pertinent decision makers.

Mr. Bolia began his political career working for then-Congressman Newt Gingrich in Washington, D.C. In 1991, he was appointed the Political Director of the Georgia Republican Party. In that capacity, he was directly responsible for managing the GOP’s statewide effort to elect Republicans to the Georgia General Assembly. In 1993, he was appointed chief of staff of the Fulton County Commission chairman. During Mr. Bolia’s first weeks in office, Fulton County, Georgia’s most populous county, cut taxes for the first time in a decade and the chairman’s office returned over $180,000 in savings from the chairman’s budget alone. Mr. Bolia was responsible for directing the chairman’s agenda and working with the Board of Commissioners.

Mr. Bolia was the president of D&B Communications, a government affairs and public relations firm he founded in 1995. Working in a bipartisan manner, he advocated for the passage of several important pieces of legislation on behalf of his clients and developed a unique niche that focused on lobbying county and city governments.

Annette Bechtold SVP Regulatory Affairs and Reform Initiatives, OneDigital

As senior vice president of regulatory affairs and reform initiatives for OneDigital, Annette is responsible for health care reform initiatives and strategic development at OneDigital. She advises, educates and supports OneDigital’s overall corporate tactics and client support issues.  She joined OneDigital in 2005 as vice president of operations and was later promoted to senior vice president of operations and strategic development before taking on her current role.

Prior to joining OneDigital, Annette held sales and operations management positions with Member Insurance Agency in Georgia, as well as John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance in Illinois. She was named "Employee Benefit Adviser of the Year" by Employee Benefit Adviser magazine in 2010.

A graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, Annette earned a bachelor’s degree in finance, specializing in insurance and risk management. She’s a certified insurance counselor (CIC) and a Chartered Healthcare Consultant (ChHC).  Annette is licensed in life, health, property and casualty and is the immediate past president of the Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters (AAHU), president-elect of the Georgia Association of Health Underwriters (GAHU), and vice chair of the  legislative council for the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU).

John Dean, VP of Sales, Connect Your Care

John has over 20 years of experience in the benefits arena, he has extensive knowledge in Reimbursement Account Administration, 401k plans, Equity Compensation as well as with Professional Employer Organizations (PEO’s), and Administrative Service Organizations (ASO’s) of which knowledge in payroll, HR, Health, Workers compensation, and compliance are critical. John holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has his Series 7, 63, CEE (Certified Equity Expert) and is certified as a Continuing Education Instructor in multiple states.

Kirstie Settas-Jones, Vice President, Health Outcomes Practice – Southeast Region, Willis Towers Watson

Kirstie joined Willis Towers Watson in October 2013 and brings almost 25 years of experience in finance and brokerage administration with a background that includes 20 years of corporate health and wellness consulting. Most of her previous experience was with a consulting company that she established in 1996, which focused on organizations with more than 1,000 employees in multiple locations. In addition, she has owned and operated an Ohio licensed mortgage broker company. Her experience covers all aspects of business operations, but is concentrated in the health and wellness arena.

Kirstie holds an accounting degree from Chancellor University in Cleveland, Ohio and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Additional professional accomplishments include: Small business owner, former Worksite Wellness Committee member for the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade, former Planning Committee Member for the South Florida Worksite Wellness Awards, numerous speaking engagements and published articles, long-term client relationships.

 

Dwane McFerrin, CLU, CFP, RHU, CLTC, LLIF Vice President, Medicare Solutions Senior Market Sales, Inc

Dwane has more than 30 years of experience in executive-level positions in the insurance industry and currently serves as Chair of the NAHU Medicare Working Group and serves on NAHU’s National Legislative Council.  Dwane has helped shape NAHU in addressing regulatory and legislative priorities for the Medicare market.  He has a strong background in the senior market and is VP of Medicare Solutions for Senior Market Sales, Inc, (SMS), one of the nation’s largest Field Marketing Organizations.  Comfortable as a marketing consultant, Dwane also served as an adjunct professor for Bellevue University teaching the capstone class to the MBA program.  Prior to joining SMS, he was Vice President of Marketing at Mutual of Omaha, Senior VP of Agency at Physicians Mutual Insurance Company and owned a marketing consulting firm.  Dwane holds a Master of Science Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, a Bachelor of Arts from Central College and LIMRA's Leadership Institute Fellow designation. He is a frequent contributor to insurance industry publications and serves on several carrier advisory boards. 

Jody Oliver President & CEO Infinisource

Jody Oliver joined Infinisource in 2014 and serves as President and CEO responsible for the sales and execution of all Benefit Services.  Prior to assuming the role of CEO, he served as COO across Benefit Services and iSolved HCM responsible for the transformation of all operational activities.  

Before joining Infinisource, Jody held various Executive level positions at SAP.  Prior to SAP, Jody was a U.S. Naval Officer, completing 12 years of active duty and 8 years of reserve duty, retiring in 2011 at the rank of Commander.  

Jody holds a master’s degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Villanova University.  He currently lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife Tanya, and four children. 

 

Marjory Robertson is AVP & Senior Counsel at Sun Life

 She advises Sun Life on employment law issues, including legal issues related to absence and disability management for its employees.  She also counsels Sun Life’s Group & Voluntary business on absence and disability management legal issues related to Absence & Disability Management Solutions offered by Sun Life to employers.  She presents frequently on legal and compliance absence management issues at conferences and at Sun Life broker meetings.

Anthony Root, Sr. Consultant, Health Analytics National Practice Willis Towers Watson

Anthony joined Willis Towers Watson in 2013 as a member of the Health Analytics consulting practice. As a regional resource, he is responsible for reporting and health analytics support, guidance and oversight for the Northeast, Atlantic and South region offices. 

Anthony has more than nineteen years of experience in employee benefits and managed care industries with emphasis in data analytics, including pharmacy benefit management, underwriting, financial funding alternatives, cost management, plan design, strategic contribution modeling. He has extensive experience building strong working relationships with clients of all sizes and industries, with an emphasis on the strategic advantage that data analytics provides in today’s ever changing environment. Anthony holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business from the University of Arkansas. 

Jack Stapleton, Associate, Fisher & Phillips LLP

Jack Stapleton is an associate in the firm's Atlanta office. He represents management in all areas of labor and employment law in state and federal courts as well as before state and federal agencies.

Jack handles a wide range of employment-related issues including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour claims and collective actions. Jack’s practice also includes counseling and litigation in the area of trade secrets, non-competition agreements, and restrictive covenants.

While in law school, Jack was Symposium Editor of the Georgia Law Review, and completed a judicial externship at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Jack also wrote an article analyzing the intersection of social media and employment relations that was selected for publication in the New York Business Law Journal.


David Churchill, Principal, Chief Revenue Officer, Elevate Benefits

Dave brings 22 years of employee benefits experience to the company, having held several award winning sales and management positions for national insurance carriers. In 2010 Dave co-founded Ascendant, Inc. a firm specializing in distribution of creative Human Resources solutions to benefits brokers and employers looking for forward-thinking solutions. His expertise includes HR technology solutions, business development, and employee benefits distribution. Dave is a graduate of the University of Michigan and resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife and three children
