President's Report

If life teaches us anything, it's that we seldom get fastballs right down the middle of the plate, as in the obligatory Baseball analogy.  Seems to me that we are getting a steady diet of sliders, cuveballs and knuckleballs!  Every time I tell a client or prospect what I think will happen next in Health Reform, the exact opposite occurs!

I've been involved in conversations that include such nuggets as; "I really don't think we'll wind up with the Public Option in the Senate bill...er....wait a minute....my NAHU update is telling me that it's in there.  Stay tuned, tomorrow will bring a new surprise!"

If all of this weren't so serious, it would be comic.  But make no mistake!  The folks pushing for the extremes in Health Reform are not going away.  They won't give up.  They won't stop.  Do you really believe that, if they don't get all they want in whatever hits the President's desk this time, they will just accept it and move on?!  No way!  They have too much invested.

Here's the question I have for you: How much do YOU have invested in this?  Does your effort match theirs?  Now is the time to "leave it all on the field."  I urge you to NOT look back on this time three years from now and think to yourself, "I wish I had been more involved."

Your industry needs you over the next 90 days.  And you can bet that we'll need you throughout 2010 and beyond as we move toward mid-term elections.  Again; are you ready?

Thank you, and God Bless!

Blake Watts

2009-2010 GAHU President
